At Nunnbetter Dance Theatre, we offer a vibrant and diverse dance curriculum designed to nurture every dancer’s potential. From our youngest dancers taking their first steps in Creative Movement to our advanced artists aiming for a professional career, NDT is a place where passion meets precision, and every class is an exciting journey of growth and discovery. Dive into the world of dance with us!

Creative Movement (Ages 3-5)
This is where the magic begins! Creative Movement is an engaging, music-driven class designed for our youngest dancers. Students will learn the fundamentals of movement, music, and cooperation, all while discovering the joy of dance. It’s a fun and playful introduction to the world of ballet!

Intro to Ballet (Ages 5-6)
A perfect starting point for our aspiring ballerinas! In this pre-ballet class, students will begin to grasp ballet terminology, positions, and key principles while still embracing the creativity of movement. It’s the first step toward building a solid foundation for years of ballet training.

Ballet 1, 2, and 3: Building the Foundations of Ballet
Ballet 1 (Ages 6-7):
This is where young dancers enter the world of barre work, ballet terminology, and posture. It’s the perfect introduction to structured ballet training, helping students develop strength, discipline, and grace.
Ballet 2 (Ages 7+):
Having mastered the basics, Ballet 2 dancers dive deeper into technique, expanding their vocabulary and skills. Students may even choose to take both Ballet 2 classes to progress at a faster pace!
Ballet 3 (Ages 8+):
By Ballet 3, students are confidently progressing with barre exercises and beginning to explore center floor work. It’s all about building strength and preparing for the challenges ahead. Students ready to move faster can take both Ballet 3 classes for extra training!

Ballet 4/Ballet 4 Fast Track: Choose Your Path
Ballet 4 (General or Fast Track, Ages 9+):
Ballet 4 offers two pathways – the general once-a-week program or the Fast Track, which requires twice-weekly training for those looking for more intensity and focus. For those dedicated dancers who want to challenge themselves, Fast Track provides a more concentrated effort to accelerate their training.
Ballet 4 Fast Track is designed for students with a high level of commitment and passion, requiring both Tuesday and Thursday sessions.

Ballet 5: The Turning Point
At Ballet 5, dancers who’ve built strong technical skills and strength are invited to begin pointe work, a key milestone in their training. With a mandatory twice-weekly class schedule, dancers are encouraged to take an additional class to further refine their skills. Each dancer will be individually evaluated to ensure they’re ready for pointe, making sure that strength, age, and competency align with the demands of this stage.

Ballet 6: Preparing for the Next Level
Ballet 6 is a game-changer! With a minimum of 3 classes per week, students start preparing for pointe work in earnest while continuing to push their skills to a higher level of difficulty. Dancers at this stage may audition for the NDT Company and should expect to work with a focused intensity. Students remain at Ballet 6 for two years, making it a critical time for growth.

Intermediate Ballet: Where Growth Meets Challenge
Intermediate Ballet is the transition stage that sets the foundation for higher-level training. With a minimum of 4 classes per week, Intermediate dancers work diligently on refining technique and preparing for advanced-level challenges. For those auditioning for the NDT Company, additional classes and commitment are required. Students typically remain in this level for 2 years, taking their skills to new heights.

Advanced Ballet: Mastering the Art of Dance
In the Advanced Ballet class, dancers possess a deep understanding of ballet vocabulary and technique. They are dedicated to working at a highly focused and intense level, taking a minimum of 4 classes per week. For NDT Company dancers, additional requirements ensure that they maintain the highest standards of excellence. The journey doesn’t stop here—our Advanced students take the skills they’ve developed and continue to excel in ballet, whether they pursue a professional career or dance as an adult.

Pointe Classes: Elevating Technique
As students reach Ballet 6 and higher, Pointe classes are added to their curriculum. These classes focus on proper strength and technique, building the dancer’s ability to perform on pointe while preventing injury. Dancers must attend their regular ballet classes to maintain the technical foundation necessary for pointe work.

Teen Ballet (Ages 12+): Start Your Ballet Journey!
It’s never too late to begin! Our Teen Ballet class is designed specifically for middle and high school students who are new to ballet. This class provides a relaxed and welcoming environment for those starting their ballet journey later in life.
